Spectra

Tonight I made the pilgrimage to see Ryoji Ikeda’s Spectra at MONA as part of Dark MoFo 2018. It now has a permanent home there after appearing at the first Dark MoFo in 2013.

Here’s what I wrote in 2013:

Night after night the column of light scythed a path through the midnight sky. And the people came in their hundreds, thousands.
Small children in their night robes, skipping alongside parents and elder siblings,
the elderly and infirm, picking their way across the damp, spongy grass with the aid of walking sticks and crutches.
Young lads in their football beanies, earnest bearded photographic artists with
multi-lens attachments.
They came in droves, drawn to the light, all the while heedless that the motes of dust spiralling upwards in the beams were fragments of their souls.
