Stand up comedy

I’ve been taking my son James G Warren to comedy gigs for the last couple of years since he won the Melbourne International Class Clowns competition in 2013 at the age of 17.

He wasn’t old enough to go into pubs to do gigs alone and didn’t yet have his driver’s licence.

So I saw a lot of comedy.

And it looked like fun.

So I thought I’d have a crack.

The Hobart Comedy Forge is a friendly and supportive place for beginners. I went ok, but assured people it was a once-off.

Until I was invited to compete in a new comedians night at Hotel Soho.

And then I was invited to perform at a mainly female comedians night at Dickens Cider House.

And then I was invited to do my set at an open mic night at the Maypole Hotel.

Thanks to Raymond Blizzard for the invitation and the video.

But that’s it, I promise you.

Unless someone would like me to do the warm up for their corporate gig.

***STOP PRESS*** I’ll be at the Comedy Forge again in October talking about anxiety dreams. I’m a bit anxious about it.
